Last August 13, 2007, Makati Shangri-La Hotel held a one day workshop for events planners / organizers. Only TWENTY (20) selected Events Coordinators / Planners are invited to attend the workshop. And I am very proud to be included in a group of few ones.
We started the workshop with a lunch buffet at Circles Events CafĂ©. It’s our chika chika moment with the Makati Shangri-La’s Events Management Team and fellow organizers. We have a sumptuous and delectable dishes prepared by their Chefs. One of my favorite is their mouthwatering and not too sweet tiramisu dessert.
After our lunch, we headed to our rooms to freshen up. They gave each one of us a complimentary overnight stay at one of their deluxe rooms w/ breakfast for two. I brought my children with me to experience an overnight stay in a five star hotel.
At around 2:30 pm, we started the workshop with an ice breaker. We met the key persons of Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Ms. Bea Villaroel (Director of Events Management) and her team tackle important details when booking events at their hotel. Ms. Joy Wassmer discussed the importance of communications to our events. Thus includes printing materials such as place cards, menu cards, etc. Other speakers are Mr. Marlon Hirsh, Director of Rooms; Mr. Jeremy Aniere, Resident Manager; Mr. Ace Esmeralda, Security Department Head. We also had our tour at the kitchen. Chef Alex Paul and Chef Yusaf Yaran lead the team to the pastry kitchen. They even test us with our creativity by decorating a carrot cake & a chocolate cake. After which, we had our tour at the different types of Makati Shangri-La’s room.
We ended the workshop with a Disney Themed Cocktail. Events Management Team and Organizers were in their best Disney costume. We all had great time. And I hope to be included once more in the next year CIRCLE FOR SUCCESS WORKSHOP.
More power to Makati Shangri-La’s Team!

Manuel - Haldos Wedding (06.30.07)
I was asked by my Mom if I’m still available for June 30 wedding. I checked my calendar, and the date was still open. The next question was if I can coordinate my Ninong’s sons wedding. I said “Yes, Mommy”. Later that afternoon, my Ninang called me and asked if I can coordinate her son’s wedding. I said “I’ll be glad to help Tata ”. And she said “O sige nga Bing, tulungan mo sila. Salamat ha.”
Jeng and I started exchanging calls, emails and text messages. I must say that she’s a hands on bride. I only reminded her with a few details that she might forget. Her invitation was made by her brother and her gown by her sister.
It was a beautiful 9:00 am wedding. The ceremony was held at Our Lady of Remedies Parish (Malate Church). Wedding entourage was on time. The priest gave a meaningful sermon. After the church ceremony, we proceed to Ramon Magsaysay Center. Tata’s band serenaded the guest with their bossa nova tune. The bride prepared a surprise audio visual presentation for Tata. Likewise, Tata gave her a surprise song number. We ended the program with the smile on the face of all guests.
Later that afternoon, I received a text message from Jeng…
Hi (Ate) Bing! Thank you po sa tulong nyo sa amin naging smooth and successful po wedding naming bcoz of ur help!
Here’s another thank you note…

Hay... Ang sungit...
Last Thursday [02 August], I was in Starbucks Powerplant with a client. I was so busy that I did not hear my mobile rings.
The next day, I checked my mobile and open the missed call folder. And it was from the secretary of a parish. I made a returned call. Below is our conversation…
Me: Good morning po, Ms. ???. Nag miss call po kayo yesterday. I’m the wedding coordinator of Mr.??? & Ms.???
Secretary: Ba’t di ka dumating kahapon?
Me: Ako po? May sched po ba ako?
Secretary: Di ka dumating sa canonical interview sched.
Me: M’am, wala pa po yung client ko. Nasa Oman & Ireland pa po. Ang balik po sa Sept. 18 pa
Secretary: Asan yung mga requirements?
Me: Na submit ko na po. Paki check po.
Secretary: Andito na nga. Ilan taon na ba sila don? Matagal na ba?
Me: Mga 2 years po
Secretary: Asan ang freedom to marry?
Me: Na inform ko po kayo na pagbalik na lang po nila sa Manila. Para di na po sila gumastos sa courier.
Secretary: Dami ko kasing kausap everyday. Di ko matandaan. So pagbalik na nila yung interview & seminars.
Me: Opo.
Me: Ok po. Email ko rin po sa inyo pag nag reply na po sila.
Secretary: Sabay baba ng phone…
O di ba? Hay… Wala lang ang sungit nya…
