My Friend's Wedding

It was almost 6 years that I and Badette lost contact with each other. I was in a client meeting last April 2006 at Glorietta Sugar House when we see each other again. We're both thrilled and she told me that she is getting married. And her eyes were glowing when she told me that news. She was really excited. I’m very happy for her. And very excited to help her plan and coordinate her wedding.

Q and Badette, Happy Wedding Preparations!

Miguel at Fun Ranch (10.05.07)

My eldest son "Miguel" celebrated his 6th birthday last Oct 5, 2007. I've been reading nice feed back on Fun Ranch. I and my husband decided to bring our kids there. An entire compound built for kids where they can play, shop, eat and have a spa massage. This place is called Fun Ranch Center (beside Tiendesitas) where kids definitely rule! When i told Miguel that we're going there. He always asked me is it already my birthday. He was so excited.

Here are some of our photos...

Miguel was so brave trying this slide at Active Fun.

We had dinner at Red Big Barn.

Cup cakes from Martha. Here at Red Big Barn, you don't need to call the waiter. You just have to press the buzzer and waiter will come to your table.

No Slide Show

I was wondering what happened to my blog site. There were no slide shows. I don't understand. I checked the other sites if they have the same experience. Yes, all slide.com are not working with a Blogspot site. Hmmmm... what happened to their partnership?

I'm still trying to fix my site using widget. Try, try....

Charmaine Grace Reyes Gamboa celebrated her 18th Birthday last September 30, 2007 at Renaissance Hotel. The party was attended by her friends from Elizabeth Seton (Grade School & H.S.), Varsity Team Mates (Village & School), and DLSU Dasmariñas. Her cousins and relatives were also there to witness this special occasion.

This party was different from the other debut that I coordinated and attended. Since, Charm was also a member of the cheering squad. The cotillion number was not the usual waltz. It was choreographed in a different manner. Ms. Ida from Hotlegs used the medley songs of Michael Bubble. The modern dance was choreographed by Xtian (Christian) which is also different one. Charm carefully chose the songs for the modern & theme dance which are the "Buttons" by Pussy Cat Dolls and "Upgrade U" by Beyonce respectively. I must say that they are all good dancers!

"The PCD"

"Upgrade U by Beyonce Dance Number"

The program started with the 18th roses. We only have the 18 candles & 18 gifts or treasures. Charm wanted to have a very short program. She wanted her guests to enjoy the dancing after the program. We make sure that the program will be different from the others. Which I think we were able to do that. And everyone enjoyed the party. The event itself reflects her personality! The party was really her…

Flash back…
At first Charm doesn’t like to celebrate her 18th birthday. Her Mom insisted to have a debut. During our planning & preparations, Charm was clueless on what she likes for her party. I asked her to attend wedding fairs to see some samples of invites, gowns, and photo and video suppliers. As we go along, she became excited on planning her debut. Her Mom was also part of the preparation. Though planning was kind of difficult for her. She was in Ireland. We just exchange emails and regularly chat at yahoo messenger. Thank God there’s emails and yahoo messenger. It makes it easy for her to plan this occasion.

Btw, aside from the party she was given a brand new black Mazda 3 car from her Mom!

As Charm said in her website it’s so UNREAL! Saya! That’s all I can say!

Happy 18th Birthday Charm! I’ll surely miss you Ms. Ladybird!

Below is Ms. Ladybird's comment:

Hello from Ireland Ms.Bing,

Thank you very much for making Charm's debut a very memorable and joyous day...Your staff was very considerate and very good.We received beautiful comments...may nagsabi pa nga ng "sana next year debut ulit ni charm"Again, thanks and continue to work the best of your abilities. (I saw how dedicated and comitted you are in your work and it shows in your craft.) take care always...

sincerely yours,
Ladybird

Partners for Distinction of the Bellevue Manila

It was a rainy Friday. But none of the invited Event Organizers [Wedding and Corporate] did not stop them to attend the workshop. This was held last September 22, 2007 at The Bellevue Manila, Alabang Muntinlupa City.

The workshop started at 8:00 am with a late breakfast at the main lobby. Too bad I miss it due to earlier commitment. But I was able to get there at lunch time. We had an express check-in to our assigned rooms. We had a free 15 minute massage at their Spa. I think that was not only 15 min but a 30 minute massage. I enjoyed every minute of it because I am a massage buff. After those superb massage my eyes gets droopy. I wanted to go to my room and sleep. And I would also like to try their ventosa massage. I’ll just have it scheduled on my next visit. Wishing that they offer discount for event organizer. ; )

After which, we went to their gym. This was to awaken our sleepy muscles & mind. Their trainer showed us the proper way of stretching and use of gym equipment. He even gave us advises on how to trim our triceps, biceps and the usual women problem… TUMMY. With our busy schedules hope we still have time to do it. Or just go to a BEAUTY CLINIC… : )

Then, we go back to Alabang Room for a short discussion on Duty Manager, Finance and Food & Beverage. We also had a tour to their kitchen and made some pistachios cookies and ensaymada.

Our last discussion was about the security system of The Bellevue Hotel. And we had the awarding of certificates. Right after that, we went to our rooms to rest and freshen up for our cocktails at 20/20 Sports Bar with a theme of Gypsy or Bohemian.

20/20 Sports Bar was decorated into a Bohemian Theme. A Tarot Reader and Tattoo Artist were present in the occasion. I even line-up for a Tarot Reader. My husband had his dragon tattoo in his arms. Most of the attendees were in Gypsy costume. They serve mouth-watering cocktail buffet and serve wines, juices, iced teas, sodas. It was hosted by Mr. Marex [I hope I spell it correctly], one of the participants who is also wedding planner / coordinator. We had games and prizes for the winners. It was a fun evening!

The Bellevue team has been very generous on that day. They have given raffle prizes:
2nd Prize: An Overnight Stay at The Bellevue Manila Hotel
1st Prize: 3 Days & 2 Nights Stay at Bohol for Two
Grand Prize: 3 Days & 2 Nights Stay at Mandarin Boracay Island for Two with Round Trip Ticket from Asian Spirit

And guess what who won the grand prize? ME! I won the grand prize at Mandarin Boracay Island. My first visit to Boracay is FREE! I and my husband are planning to bring our kids with us. And we are all excited! Thank you so much to The Bellevue Manila Team!

That’s not it. The next day, me and my husband were having breakfast at Café D’ Asie. We saw COACH FREDDIE ROACH, the famous trainer of Mr. Manny Pacquio. Of course, I won’t let it passed. I had a souvenir photo with him together with my husband. It was really a lucky day for me!

To the Bellevue Manila Team… Congratulations and More Power! Job well done!

Hope to see you again on the next workshop.

Leonila Alvarez 80th Birthday (08.19.07)

Venue: Grand Ballroom B & C, The Bellevue Manila
Invitation: Imaginovation Handcrafted Expressions
Band: The Rockin’ Revival
Performers: Marco Sison, Nonoy Zuniga, Janine Desiderio
No of Guests: 250

Mrs. Leony Alvarez marked her 80th birthday last August 19, 2007 at The Bellevue Manila. I am proud to say that I’ve been the event coordinator of her family from her Golden Wedding Anniversary, her grand daughter’s debut, company Christmas party & other special events. In other words, suki na nila ako. Hehehe… Ay suki ko pala sila.

The birthday party was different from the other party that I coordinated. This was a birthday concert for their guests. Her grand children and daughter with daughter in laws gave a special dance number. The family chorale rendered a song “Thank you”. There was a surprise live feed from her grand daughter in Canada.

The birthday party was a blast. With all these performers, I must say that everyone had a great time.

;-> Instead of receiving gifts from her guests, she asked them to donate a few cents to Coalition for Homeless.

Circle for Success Workshop of Makati Shangri-La Hotel

Last August 13, 2007, Makati Shangri-La Hotel held a one day workshop for events planners / organizers. Only TWENTY (20) selected Events Coordinators / Planners are invited to attend the workshop. And I am very proud to be included in a group of few ones.

We started the workshop with a lunch buffet at Circles Events Café. It’s our chika chika moment with the Makati Shangri-La’s Events Management Team and fellow organizers. We have a sumptuous and delectable dishes prepared by their Chefs. One of my favorite is their mouthwatering and not too sweet tiramisu dessert.

After our lunch, we headed to our rooms to freshen up. They gave each one of us a complimentary overnight stay at one of their deluxe rooms w/ breakfast for two. I brought my children with me to experience an overnight stay in a five star hotel.

At around 2:30 pm, we started the workshop with an ice breaker. We met the key persons of Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Ms. Bea Villaroel (Director of Events Management) and her team tackle important details when booking events at their hotel. Ms. Joy Wassmer discussed the importance of communications to our events. Thus includes printing materials such as place cards, menu cards, etc. Other speakers are Mr. Marlon Hirsh, Director of Rooms; Mr. Jeremy Aniere, Resident Manager; Mr. Ace Esmeralda, Security Department Head. We also had our tour at the kitchen. Chef Alex Paul and Chef Yusaf Yaran lead the team to the pastry kitchen. They even test us with our creativity by decorating a carrot cake & a chocolate cake. After which, we had our tour at the different types of Makati Shangri-La’s room.

We ended the workshop with a Disney Themed Cocktail. Events Management Team and Organizers were in their best Disney costume. We all had great time. And I hope to be included once more in the next year CIRCLE FOR SUCCESS WORKSHOP.

More power to Makati Shangri-La’s Team!

Photos to follow…

Manuel - Haldos Wedding (06.30.07)

I was asked by my Mom if I’m still available for June 30 wedding. I checked my calendar, and the date was still open. The next question was if I can coordinate my Ninong’s sons wedding. I said “Yes, Mommy”. Later that afternoon, my Ninang called me and asked if I can coordinate her son’s wedding. I said “I’ll be glad to help Tata ”. And she said “O sige nga Bing, tulungan mo sila. Salamat ha.”

Jeng and I started exchanging calls, emails and text messages. I must say that she’s a hands on bride. I only reminded her with a few details that she might forget. Her invitation was made by her brother and her gown by her sister.

It was a beautiful 9:00 am wedding. The ceremony was held at Our Lady of Remedies Parish (Malate Church). Wedding entourage was on time. The priest gave a meaningful sermon. After the church ceremony, we proceed to Ramon Magsaysay Center. Tata’s band serenaded the guest with their bossa nova tune. The bride prepared a surprise audio visual presentation for Tata. Likewise, Tata gave her a surprise song number. We ended the program with the smile on the face of all guests.

Later that afternoon, I received a text message from Jeng…

Hi (Ate) Bing! Thank you po sa tulong nyo sa amin naging smooth and successful po wedding naming bcoz of ur help!

Hay... Ang sungit...

Last Thursday [02 August], I was in Starbucks Powerplant with a client. I was so busy that I did not hear my mobile rings.

The next day, I checked my mobile and open the missed call folder. And it was from the secretary of a parish. I made a returned call. Below is our conversation…

Me: Good morning po, Ms. ???. Nag miss call po kayo yesterday. I’m the wedding coordinator of Mr.??? & Ms.???
Secretary: Ba’t di ka dumating kahapon?
Me: Ako po? May sched po ba ako?
Secretary: Di ka dumating sa canonical interview sched.
Me: M’am, wala pa po yung client ko. Nasa Oman & Ireland pa po. Ang balik po sa Sept. 18 pa
Secretary: Asan yung mga requirements?
Me: Na submit ko na po. Paki check po.
Secretary: Andito na nga. Ilan taon na ba sila don? Matagal na ba?
Me: Mga 2 years po
Secretary: Asan ang freedom to marry?
Me: Na inform ko po kayo na pagbalik na lang po nila sa Manila. Para di na po sila gumastos sa courier.
Secretary: Dami ko kasing kausap everyday. Di ko matandaan. So pagbalik na nila yung interview & seminars.
Me: Opo.
Me: Ok po. Email ko rin po sa inyo pag nag reply na po sila.
Secretary: Sabay baba ng phone…

O di ba? Hay… Wala lang ang sungit nya…

Agullana - Malab Wedding (06.08.07)

Last June 8, 2007 [My Dad's birthday], marks the beginning of Boysie Agullana & Beng Malab's lives as husband & wife. The wedding ceremony and reception was held at Oasis Phoenix Garden.

All suppliers were on time. At the time we arrived at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, Ara Fernando was doing her make-up. The gown was made by Loejai Lopez, who travel all the way from Ilocos Norte to assist Beng with her gown. The gown was simple but elegant. Souvenirs were made by her Dad & brother.

The wedding was a reunion of family, friends & relatives. I noticed a number of balikbayans from US and Australia attended the wedding making the celebration more memorable. Others came all the way from Ilocos Norte. Cousins of Beng rendered special song numbers, and they were very good in their performance.

Ms. May our emcee did a great job in hosting the event. Every one had a great time even the newlywed. Boysie & Beng, we wish you a happy marriage for the rest of your lives. Congratulations and Best Wishes!

Hill - Alonzo Wedding (07.07.07)

For everyone this is the luckiest day of the year. But for George & Lilian they are the luckiest couple who married at 777 (07 July 2007). Lilian an Ex- Philippine Army met George at the US Embassy Manila, who is an Ex - American Army. Lilian then was working at US Embassy travel agency. When George saw her, he asked his friend to ask Lilian to be their tour guide. Lilian accepts the offer, touring them around Manila (Rockwell, Mega Mall & Greenbelt). For several months of getting to know each other, George finally asked Lilian to marry him in front of her Father in Law. And she said “Pano ba yan Dad?”. And her father in law replied “Ikaw?” ….

On July 7, 2007, George & Lilian got married at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Ortigas, Pasig City [beside Lourdes School]. They had their reception at The Peninsula Manila, Conservatory, Makati City expecting 110 guests. Lilian wanted George to experience a Philippine traditional wedding. In the program, we added the prosperity dance (money dance) and kissing game for the married couples. The program lasted for an hour and a half. And I can see in their eyes that they’re both happy with the outcome of their wedding. Planning the wedding for three months was a challenge for me. But I definitely enjoyed working with this couple.

The next day I received a text message from Lilian…

SMS: Hi bing! I’d lyk to thank u! Coz everything was really great! Bing I’ve got some gift for you so f u have time pls let me knw wer can I bring it… Again thank u n to ur staff… All of u really makes a good job.

Lilian, thank you for the gift!
